Why I’m Finally Putting Self-Care on Autopilot

A Confession from a Massage Therapist

I have a confession to make:
Even though I’m a massage therapist… I haven’t been getting regular massage. 😬

Not because I don’t believe in it.
Not because I don’t want it.
But because my schedule is chaos—and every time I try to book with someone good, they’re booked solid for months. So I give up. I put it off. And I tell myself I’ll figure it out later.

If It’s Not Scheduled, It’s Not Happening

Here’s what I’m realizing:
If I don’t schedule self-care, it’s not going to happen.
And if I don’t do it consistently, my nervous system and muscles pay the price.

It doesn’t matter that I know all the science behind it. Or that I tell my clients every day how essential it is. I still let it slide when life gets busy—and let’s be honest, life is always busy.

How I’m Taking Action (Finally)

So this week, I made some big moves. Because in two months, I know I’ll be so grateful I did.

✅ I set my EMDR therapy on a recurring monthly appointment.
✅ I pre-booked my massages for September through November.
✅ I’m adding monthly acupuncture.
✅ I’m getting serious about consistent red light therapy and the vibe plate at the gym.

Why This Matters

This isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about protecting my peace.

Our nervous systems thrive on rhythm and predictability—not scrambling and burnout.

By putting my self-care on autopilot, I’m giving myself the same support I encourage my clients to prioritize. This is about showing up for myself like I would for a friend in need.

A Gentle Challenge for You

If self-care keeps ending up on the back burner, here’s what I recommend:
Put it on autopilot.

Block out your care like you block out work, school pickup, and dental cleanings. It matters just as much (maybe more).

You don’t have to hustle your healing.
You just need to schedule it like it’s sacred.
